About Me

Upon my arrival to Tezpur in 1985 as a matriculate with 80.8% marks, I attended Tezpur Government Boys' HS School for my last two years of Higher Secondary Science. In addition to studying Science, in those days I started playing cricket in club level and moved to different parts of Sonitpur district for playing cricket. I used to join the debate and extempore speech competitions and won many awards and certificates.

After my 10+2, I was selected for Mining Engineering course at Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, Odisha. But I joined Darrang College in 1987 for my under graduation classes in Zoology and pursued my graduation in 1991 with 1st class 20th position in Gauhati University. During my days in Darrang College, I started writing shot stories, most of which were published in different magazines. Many of my friends repeatedly advised me to publish my own book of short stories and in the year 1990, while I was pursuing my B.Sc, I published my book of short stories "বনতলী বাগিচাত এজোপা পলাশ"।

While in Tezpur, I was able to join multiple organizations such as Yoga Camp besides joining Vivekananda Kendra for some motivation classes. I joined some Photography classes which unfortunately I couldn't complete. However, I was a regular reader in District Library, Tezpur where I could read some very good books. In those days I could come in contact with some dignitaries like famous photographer of Tezpur Nalini Barua, Singer Pankaj Bordoloi, Dharmadas Choudhary sir and many more who helped me in gaining a substantial amount of maturity, responsibility and communication skill.

In 1992 I joined my Post Graduation in Gauhati University. My specialisation was in Entomology. While I was a post graduate student in GU, I started doing a part time job in an agency named "Call Me". However I worked only in my off days or holidays. My job was to serve as a "Delivery Boy" for delivering Gas cylinder, Party orders, Managing Air & Train tickets, Pay electricity bills for their customers and so on. In 1994, I completed my Masters Degree with 1st Class 13th position from Gauhati University.

Soon I got a job in a Mumbai based Pharmaceutical Company "Gufic". I joined as a trainee MR in August, 1994 and attended two trainings in Kolkata and Mumbai respectively. After successful completion of my training, I was appointed in Jorhat to maintain the pharmaceutical business in Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dimapur and Kohima. I worked as an MR in Gufic till April, 1995.

After Bohag Bihu of 1995, I joined as a Science teacher in a School at Amguri. After working for three months in that school, I got a new job as a Lecturer in Jorhat Kendriya Mahaviddalaya. I went there, submitted the joining letter and took classes for three days. I didn't know why I wasn't feeling good delivering my duty in that college...! I resigned on the fourth day and went back to Amguri for teaching those class 10 students again.

It was August, 1995. During the end of the month, I appeared before the Interview Board in Tangla College for the teachership in Zoology and soon I was selected for the post by the Governing Body. And on the Teachers' Day of 1995, I joined Tangla College as an Assistant Professor.

I was then young, only 27 years old and after the classes are over, my students used to invite me to the playground for playing cricket. I didn't turn down their request. Soon I mingled with them. They said my appearance and batting style were similar to SriLankan cricketer Jayasuriya and they used to call me as "Jayasuriya". They were lovely students and at present responsible citizens.

In January 1996, I got a proposal to work as a part-time guest teacher in an English Medium School (TEMHS) which was going to be started from that month of January, 1996. As my post in Tangla College was not regularised at that time, I accepted the proposal and joined the school as a part timer to teach Science. Thus from 1996, I started working in two institutions without affecting the academic atmosphere of the both. In the same year, i.e., on 23rd July, 1996 I got married and Archana came into my life. She is an Assistant Professor in Zoology and a kind hearted lady, who has always been an inspiration for me in everything I do. In 1999 Hiya (Atlanta) came to our lives as a divine blessing. Now she is pursuing her higer education in MS Ramaih, Bangaluru.

I could see that the young generation in Tangla is very much talented and the only thing they needed is proper guidance. I decided to do something for them which can motivate them into the field of Science. Accordingly in two consecutive years with the help of my colleagues, we arranged two Science Exhibitions, one in Tangla College and the other in TEMHS. It is worth mentioning that in these two exhibitions most of the students came forward and participated with their innovative ideas. People in greater Tangla witnessed and appreciated the students. Since then, I have been busy with my students carrying out different Science based activities including Science Exhibitions.

In September, 2005, five dynamic young educationists of Tangla came to me and proposed for starting a new English medium school. I accepted the proposal and accordingly in January, 2006 we started our school ARUNODOI ACADEMY with 215 students only. Today, Arunodoi Academy is one of the best school in the entire Udalguri district with more than 1200 students and excellent academic records. In 2010, we have upgraded our school Arunodoi Academy and started HS Science in a separate building under the name and style ARUNODOI JUNIOR COLLEGE.

In our Academy we have always encouraged our students to take part in different Science based activities. I have guided more than 70 Science projects for NCSC and students from our school were selected for National Level NCSC. Some of the topics under my guidance were : Solar Geyser, Alternative Water Filter, Automatic Railway Gate, Application of Magnetic Field in Rocket Launching, Homemade Air-conditioning, Wetland conservation, Danger of Riparian Brick Kilns, Energy efficient lighting, Household Garbage Management, Homemade Mosquito Repellent and so on. I, myself also presented my research papers in National Seminars at Kokrajhar & Titabor. From the year 2007, I have visited different schools of entire Udalguri as Resource Person on request of the District Committee of NCSC to guide the school students for their Science projects.

In 2009, I attended a 3-Day National Workshop on "Construction of Telescope" in Guwahati Planetarium. That workshop gave me a broader platform to meet some prominent Scientists of India. They really inspired me a lot and taught me how to get involved in Science based activities. In the same year, our son Gungun's arrival brought more happiness to our family.

It was the year 2012, and in connection with the rare celestial event "The Transit of Venus", I got the 2nd opportunity to attend the 3-Day National Level Workshop in Guwahati Planetarium. After attending the workshop, I visited different schools in Udalguri district to create awareness among the students about this rare celestial event.

On 31st July, 2012 my service in Tangla College had to come to an end. There had been some conspiracy against me and my wife Archana since 2009 regarding a post of Assistant Professor in the department of Zoology. There was an illegal but continuous effort from all corners to appoint a junior in a particular post of Assistant Professor. It was really painful to see that all my colleagues and seniors remain silent even after knowing the illegal move. May be, they had some personal benefits associated with this issue. I decided to quit, since I had something more important to do than to remain busy in this battleground. Happy I am for those valuable 18 years in Tangla College, during which I contributed my best in all sorts of responsibilities I was entrusted with.

It was September, 2015. Renowned amateur Astronomer of India Sir U.N.Deka came to our home during a visit to Udalguri. As per his advice, I applied for an International Conference on Astronomy at BHABA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE (BARC), Mumbai. I have filled up the form giving all the details of my Science based activities done in the recent past. And it was like a divine blessing my selection letter came unexpectedly. In November, 2015 I attended the 5-Day International Conference in BARC where I met the scientists from all over the globe. I was thrilled to have a conversation with NASA Planetary Scientist, Dr Henry Throop. He was so simple and a man with great sense of humour. I also met scientists from ISRO, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel.

In the recent times, at my personal level, I have tried to apply myself in giving free career guidance to the students of Udalguri district. Already I have started my work and have visited to different localities of Udalguri for providing career guidance to the students. Different NGOs and other organisations have helped me in this field by providing a right platform for my work. At present I am preparing to publish our next book written by me and my wife Archana on Science based articles "অনাদি অনন্ত প্ৰসাৰী"। Besides these, I have been writing science based articles for different Journals and magazine. Apart from that, I have a personal blog "Window To Infinity" where I jot down some science articles very regularly.

It was 14 December, 2017. I received a call from Dominica, the island country in the eastern Caribbean Sea. They asked me to attend an International Conference on Environmental Protection to be held from 28th December to 30th December, 2017. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend it but my article got published in their journal "Applied Ecology and Environmental Sciences". Ballsbridge University, Dominica awarded me with Ph.D. in August, 2018 in the Convocation Ceremony held in India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. It was a great experience indeed. In November, 2019 I got another opportunity to attend a National Workshop held at ISRO on Satellite Navigation and Remote Sensing.

Today I have choosen a life of my own. Every morning when I wake up, I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain or anything of my own. I am free to feel the freedom that comes from being able to see the smiling faces of my students who have already proved themselves as a man of value. But I know.....

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep"
